CONTEMPORARY FICTION

So, there are three pending novels/novellas going on in my brain:
AKA: The Fame Game Trilogy [working title]

Contemporary stories, my favourite “tropes”, and endearing characters that tend to be as flawed and neurotic as myself…

  • Rumour In The Truth

  • Star Attraction

  • Essence of Change

Rumour In The Truth [mostly completed]

(Frenemies to Lovers trope)

When a freelance photographer catches a waitress tearing into one of the world’s biggest superstar music icons in the street one night, outside a prominent Park Lane hotel restaurant, the world’s media and everyone on Social Media run with it — claiming a “Lover’s Tiff” in public, and questioning the star’s relationship status, after a very public breakup not long before.

Upon reading about this the next day, Luke Heartlettsaid iconic superstar musician and singer — sees a fantastic opportunity to get the media off his back about the breakup: A completely new girlfriend, courtesy of the media’s sordid imagination, themselves, no less. He thinks it’s a Great Idea to find the blasted waitress who yelled at him and convince her to go with him on his upcoming trip to Paris, to help convince the world’s media he’s moved on.

He’s an international megastar; so obviously the girl’s going to melt right into his hands… Right?

Rachel Adams has absolutely No Intention of pandering to some ludicrous idea shoved on her by some outrageously narcissistic pop star. Her life is bad enough, without getting mixed up in some fantasy world this celebrity moron is dreaming up. Or — she has absolutely no intention of doing so… Until… she’s sick of her new job, is utterly bored stiff with everything [not] going on, is rather sick of watching her friends thrive in their careers whilst she doesn’t actually have one… and just wants to do Something with herself.

And, well. Paris seems like a nice idea — it’s exciting IF she ignores said celebrity moron who’s taking her and funding the entire thing.

After that, they’ll all go on their merry way and that will be that.

… Right?

… …. … Right??

Star Attraction

(Lifelong Best Friends to Lovers trope)

Lisa Ryan is twenty-seven and is about to finish her second degree, in English Literature - a lifelong dream of hers. She gave up her well-paid career in London to return to live with her parents and teenage sister and complete her dream.

Lisa also has a lifelong secret - she's completely and pathetically still in love with her old best friend... Who absconded when he was 16, with his twin brother, to go and be mind-blowingly famous film stars in California, never hearing from either of them again.

She always intended it for it to be something in the back of her mind ever since — and every time they had a new release, she dutifully went to see their movies. But apparently, that wasn't OK with the Universe, because one unsuspecting day, she answers a random phone call... on her parents' ancient landline phone.

That's when she finds out that Movie Megastar Celebrity Icon Sebastian De Carr is finally back home after eleven years and wants to see her again. Right Now... If she wouldn't mind doing an old friend a favour - please?

What's a girl to do when the love of your life asks you for a favour after eleven sodding years of ghosting? Well. Go and see him. Obviously. Broken heart be damned. Especially when he's too attentive, too close, and too nice.

And maybe, a little too interested.
